A little note from Le Chateau

Heavens what an extraordinarily imaginative bunch of souls you all are out there. Now I haven't got much time as you might well imagine for one in my position, being a Chatelaine one simply has to maintain standards and decorum at all times and this tends to eat into one's day rather.

However before I pop out for one or two delectable tit bits for this evenings supper, and I have in mind some very fine asparagus from the neighbouring estate followed by the first of the strawberies, His Lordship has asked me to tell you that one of you is getting rather warm, I use the term warm rather than close, because heavens one simply would not wish for that to be the case, however friendly we may all feel to one another !!

Ah, not the foggiest!! Some kind of drying room for something?
But now seriously, I have SO enjoyed catching up on your blog in a leisurely way. I have had a dip in the pool, lounged on all of those gorgeous loungers, pottered into the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of cava.....munched at lunch and tried to decide which bedroom is nicest.
Your photos are scrumptious, they really are.
Did you read Kate Mosse? Did you like it? I have to say I wasn't wildly impressed and couldn't quite see why all the fuss. But you are in such a fabulous part of the world....lucky lucky you!
We usually head to the South-West of France for our hols but, wouldn't you know it, this year it's Northumberland. So I'll have to inflict myself on @themill and Withy, rather than book myself into the fabulous Chateau! jx

Um, a sort of windmill with a funnel attachment for capturing the gathered wind and funneling it into the house, or a strategically angled and pierced tower, for doing the same for the prevailing wind?

I still think its a spy hole - but probably a vent or something quite boring. Maybe some sort of game one plays on cold french evenings -I will certainly have to pay a visit I feel.

Good to catch up-forgot how wonderful your place looks...nooks and crannys included.

I think it's for a bidet? Got to wash the feet somewhere...

warm wishes

Have finally caught up on your blogs and am disgusted to say I haven't a clue what 'it' is! Can only steal ideas from the others -plagarism? What's that? !! xx

Oh I still say it's a loo, a really weird multiple loo where everyone sat next to each other and read the papers! A row of loo holes! With ornate peircing and fretwork and a great big canpoied dome hung with amazing carpets . . . enuff, stop that woman now -ed.
