After the storm

We had the most amazing electrical storm last night here in the Languedoc. It had felt hot and heavy all day so when eventually the low angry rumbling started in the distance it was a relief. We stood on the terrace and watched the entire skyline lighting up vividly and startling forks of blinding light hitting the hills in the distance.

This morning it was beautifully fresh, the flowers invigorated by the rain and the Pyrenees unusually clear in the distance. It was promising to be a scorcher.

Today we have new guests arriving and I am thrilled that they are going to view Le Chateau and the area in such pretty weather. I am currently deciding how best to serve up His Lordships hat which he promised to eat should I obtain one single solitary booking through this blogging malarky. Well we now proudly have a member of Purplecoo If you have not yet met this spendid band of bloggers do pop in and say 'Hi'.

2b and I rushed off to the local town of Castelnaudary which has the famous Canal du Midi running through it. On the way back he snapped this field of poppies. I'm introducing him to the art of photography. Think I'll keep him away from blogging for a while longer though !!

a blogger! do tell
Some of the most amazing storms I ever saw was when we were on holiday in France. Trouble was we were staying in a tent and ended up in the car/toilet block!
Think Le Chateau would have been more sensible and I do hope we hear who is staying with you soon.

warm wishes

I remember storms like that when we lived for 2 years in the Gironde. We used to reckon we had 20 mins to get the pool furniture in and the parasols battened down, and then.............!

Nothing like a good storm to terrify the living s*** out of one and make as feel a little more sparky in the morning.

I haven't been in a proper thunder storm for years - we just don't have them on this coast. I loved the reminder of how clear and fresh everything is afterwards.
Like everyone else am VERY curious as to who the lucky holiday-maker is!

I feel so sorry the animals when it's stormy as some of them just don't understand what's happening. Have to say though, we could do with a stonker here at the moment to clear the sky.

It si very hot and heavy here this evening, I think the weather is about to break. What stunning poppies, mine haven't opened yet, but won't have a display like your picture.

Oh I'm in some far flung hotel on the Cote d' Azur and had to leave in a hurry but I'll be back soon xx
Left the 'guests' round the pool, wished I was there, it's much nicer, bewildered people of every nationality looking over my shoulder !!!

We had scary storms last year in the Dordogne - one moment by the pool in bright sunshine, the next racing for cover. Dangerous too - the father of a boy from James' school was killed in Italy last year - one toe in the pool. Eeek.
