French Chateau For Sale

The week started innocuously enough. Great forks of lightening stabbing viciously overhead as His Lordship presided over his domaine. Effortlessly rustling up a mere six or seven courses for a party he carried on with grim determination as all around squeals of excitement and delight at the impromptu firework display emanated. The lights flickered precariously plunging us into darkness for a fraction of a second. Torrential rain sent waters swirling and gushing past the front door. I abandoned my workstation. ‘My computer’ I wailed.

Things were sure hotting up in the kitchen in more ways than one. An almighty crack signalled the end of my televisions and Internet access as my live box fizzled. A startling bright spark came from the utility room where the gas pipeline to the Aga lay. But all of this was nothing to the eruption that burst forth from Gordon Ramsay who had somehow found his way into my kitchen. I swear I could have heard a pin drop afterwards. I hadn’t realised before now that His Lordship had such an art for impersonations. ‘Such wasted talent’ I remarked as tartly as possible.

2b gets his ‘My First Screwdriver Kit’ out and proceeds to dismantle ‘Mummy’s lifeline’ because she’s in one hell of a tizzy and prone to shouting without prior warning. ‘You are so talented’ I gush chewing down my nails.

Then whilst more storm clouds are brewing I drop another bombshell.

‘I’m selling Le Chateau

Everyone’s looking at me. I continue. ‘I have renovated the most beautiful house with love and care. I have created a thriving successful business of which I am justifiably proud’. ‘It is however time to move on’.

Life is going to get interesting.

Here in the Languedoc.

What a dramatic week, worthy of a tale from Un Peu Loufoque! What exciting adventures will follow! I am sure in whatever you do, whichever road you pursue, what ever great journey you choose to undertake ,all will be as wonderful as you have made life at the Chateau! And what a gem, what a prize for some lucky soul to find and take over!

You dear Sally are like an explorer, for ever seeking new advetures and I can not wait to hear what happens next!

Oh What excitement Chez Vous!

What a decision to take in the midst of the storm! I'm sure that having created this lovely place, you will go on to equally lovely things.

Excellent blog - could feel the fizzing of live box and excitement at the same time. Loved the line: "2b gets his 'My First Screwdriver Kit' out".

A dramatic move such as this can only be followed by the appropriate recognition of the dramatic and substantial efforts and input you have made in making Le Chateau what it is today; it is clear from the website and from this blog that you have both put heart and soul into it and it will be a wrench to leave.

Life, however, needs its occasional wrenches, and what will be a wrench for you will be, no doubt, a great new beginning for others, and for you, as the future's pages turn.

I was told by a very wise friend when I made a big move in my life

"There are no endings just new beginnings"

Here's to your beginning Sally and may they be as happy as mine.

Hello Sally,

I have just read Muddie's blog about her childhood home, and now have read about your electric night at the chateau.

Where we live can have such an influence on us! I so admire what you have already accomplished, and am so grateful for your having shared the chateau with us.

Now, the future offers so many possibilities for one as talented as you. All best wishes.

Sally - did I understand correctly? Selling up? Moving on? And before I've managed to get myself and my scruffy little car down there?

I'm sure whatever you turn your hand to will be a success - how could it fail to be? Are we soon to be reading about Sally's Cooking School, Sally's lingerie, Sally's guides to French living or simply Sally inc? Or perhaps you're coming over to set up in business with Jane and myself passing the perrier and taking turns to play with the coffee frother?

All the very best in whatever direction you take, and don't forget to keep us all posted.

PS Top blog, by the way - tres dramatique!

Someone is going to be beyond very lucky, buying that stunning chateau and a ready-made business. And what can I say, except to echo LBD and tell you to get your backside into gear and down to the west country to start up something fabulous with us!! Come on, we could be Sex and the Countryside!! (sure Milla would make up the fourth)....
