Fireworks on Bastille Day in Carcassonne

I'm getting hugely excited about the prospect of going to see the fireworks in Carcassonne on Bastille Day which is July 14th. I adore fireworks and am one of those noisy people that exclaims out loud whenever there's a fresh burst of cannon powder. The display which is one of the largest in Europe lasts for a full twenty five minutes and reaches it's crescendo with 1200 charges detonated over La Cités facade in 6 seconds. Awesome.

You'll be glad to hear though that I've been very very busy this week diligently dealing with enquiries from people looking for quality self catering accommodation in the Languedoc and as you all know that's me !! When I'm full I pop them round the corner to a friend who has a terribly sweet gite. In fact I'm thinking of giving myself a pay rise on the strength of all my hard work. Very good idea meethinks.

Meanwhile 2b and I had a triumph in the Thrift Shop department the other day. Now I'm not ashamed to admit to anybody that I wear recycled clothes. In fact I'm very proud of the fact that I'm not a follower of fad fashions and am perfectly happy to mix new and vintage clothing together. They had a sale on, fill a black plastic sack for 15 euro's. 'We don't need to spend that amount' I said tartly until 2b's arms were at breaking point with Levi 501's and a pair of coveted Diesel jeans. Oh in the end I succumbed and starting filling the bag with linen drapes, cotton shift dresses and a baby soft cashmere pullover. The heat was stifling in the shop and the poor boy nearly buckled under the weight of the bag as he toppled it into my trusty old GTI convertible. The very nice man gave me a lovely necklace (to match my blue eye's) as we left. 2b and I chortled to ourselves all the way home.

The Small Cross One meanwhile swings herself a holiday on the Mediterranean coast with a friend. The friends Mother arrives and as they go to leave I quite naturally ask if there's room for me in the suitcase. The woman recoils back in an alarmed fashion.

Now whether this is down to my request or the fact that I have been a demon this week munching on the fabulous fresh pink garlic of the season pulled straight from the ground I couldn't say.

I don't suppose I'll ever know either.

Bonjour Sally,

I adore charity shops, especailly love the vintage clothes too.

Pity you are selling your GORGEOUS Chateau, one lucky person to buy that Sally.

Cook with a lot of garlic, HL is mad about the stuff.

Enjoy the fireworks.!

Camilla.xx P.S. Thank you for your kind comments on my owl post pic, not sure where on the beach, possibly Somerset where artist grew up.

Nothing I like more than a bargain, I once rode a horse called Bargain, he was bought a sale for peanuts and went onto be the most wonderful eventer. When the children were small I used to take them to all the antique shops in Arundel, thats about the only type of shop there. One day i heard my daughter tell a friend that Mummy and her had spent all day in the "brown shops" I though about it and she was quite right they are very dark and to a small child they must have seemed brown.
Hope the fireworks are great.

LOVE fireworks and OOh and AAAh to the point where my family run away and pretend they don't know the sad mad woman in raptures.
I'm hopeless at bargains, charity shops, rummages - never EVER get anything good. Not much better in full price places either come to think of it... jxxx
