It's awfully quiet here .....

The Small Cross One has departed for England courtesy of Easyjet this afternoon and it's awfully quiet. Oh dear. No-one to argue with, no-one to share chocolate with, no-one to exchange inconsequential remarks with, no-one to push in the pool and giggle with. I do so hope Easyjet is making it easy for her. Oh dear.

I drove her through the tunnel of sunflowers this morning, she gave a deep sigh. 'You don't need any more pictures of sunflowers' she said. 'You can take a thousand pictures of sunflowers I replied and there will never be the perfect one'. 'Take yesterdays pictures for example all slightly sideways with their petals all ruffling in the same direction'. Another sigh.

In the end though I got a massive hug and she lifted me off the ground. I softened and opened my purse. 'Treat yourself to anything you like'. Gosh I can be so wild and impulsive at times I'm difficult to recognise.

Talking of wildness last week's visitors from Baton Rouge, Louisiana won't be forgotten in a hurry. What a delightful family they all were, fully participating and getting out and about to explore the very many attractions of the Languedoc from the bustling markets to the varied culture. Apparently we English finish most sentences with a question Don't we ? Isn't it ? Do I ? It was news to me but it's what makes this job so rewarding and worthwhile, discovering your differences.

Meanwhile of course there's a whole drawer of undiscovered make-up to explore, potions and lotions, clothes to rifle through, lovely pens to 'borrow'.

I wouldn't, would I ?

PS. I'm in very big trouble with the gorgeous, fabulous, fun filled ladies from Atlanta who stayed with us in June and I have omitted to mention them, darlings discretion, DISCRETION phurleeeeze ..... LOL Queen Vicki, Deidra et al. xx

Whose lotions and potions Sally, the daughter's or the visitors?
I'm sighing over the empty pool. We went and sat on Rottingdean beach today and we were the only ones there. The schools break up on Wednesday, by Thursday every place will be packed with kids.

You would! Ah, I wouldn't mind if the sunflowers were ruffled in the wrong direction. Love sunflowers. Elder Daughter got married amid masses of them. Made for very happy wedding. I grew one last year in the garden - or rather it grew itself as I don't think I sowed any seeds. I saved its seeds but none have come up -- Sigh! and we have a self set Brussel sprout where the sunflower was. Hit and miss gardening you see. Lovely, happy wistful blog.

Lovely pool, but very deserted. Ours is just not warm enough to tempt...that's the difference between your region and ours!

If they were my daughters lotions and potions I would only be borrowing them back! they would have been mine in the first place!!
Arrrggghhh Wildchild always took hers with her . . . hope the small cross one has a good time and that you don't miss her too much. No if you love a subject you can photograph it for life - there will always be something different.

As for mentioning the pool . . . I shall ignore that - sticks nose in the air and stalks off.
Isnt that lovely the way your customers are still coming back for more....even through the cyber waves the joy of Le Chateau works its magic...you should bottle it and sell it ....

I'd have loved to have been a fly on the wall for your visit from Atlanta! There's nothing as much fun as a girls' holiday - but the combination of the South of France, the Chateau, the fun-loving hostess and guests from the deep south - Wow!!! A recipe for the best time ever, I'm sure.

Sally, I cannot see a bunch of sunflowers at my neighborhood market without thinking of you ... and the fields that you drive/bike through at will.

I am pleased to say that the current bunches, wrapped in their protective cellophane, stems dunked in murky watered buckets, are looking much more lively than those that dunked a week or so ago.

Our New York temp is so hot that perhaps these captive sunflowers just want to imagine that they are in France.

Oh your sunflowers are just beautiful Sally. We have a few fields in Cornwall but they are not as far ahead as yours. Hope you are not missing your daughter too much in amongst the clothes and make-up! xx

Wow, now THAT is just LOVELY!
Try the make-up and eat all the chocolate yourself. It's summer, after all!

Hi Sally. Thanks for visiting my blog. Yours is hilarious. I really enjoyed my visit. You are so lucky to live where you are and you are obviously having a great time. Btw I use LOL a lot at the end of sentences. I hope everyone didn't think I meant "lots of love"...hah hah.

How nice to have peace and quiet. Sigh. Beautiful sunflowers, and by the way (BTW), I thought LOL meant lots of love too, I did think some people I hardly knew were being terribly familiar.
