Sally's Sunday

It would be true to say that no-one prepares you for the delights of being the Mother of a teenage daughter. No-one forewarns you as you proudly push around your golden haired gurgling poppet that in years to come you may well be staring back at a mirrored version of yourself and that you suddenly find yourself sounding exactly like your Mother did all those years ago.

Take yesterday for example when I had coerced the darling into posing in some clothes all lined up for eBay. After a while she announces that I am perfectly useless behind the lens and that she will take over and that I must pose instead. The fact that they were a tad tight which is why I was selling them in the first place caused much smirking as I nearly fainted from holding in my breath. I thought rather naively that I was bestowing a huge favour on the child considering she had shown an interest in pursuing photography further but apparently I am 'impossible' to work with and consequently have put her off fashion photography for life. Another bonding session to look back on fondly then.

After our photo shoot I wandered off into the garden to admire the tulips and the first buds of the lilac which I shall use to fill the house with wonderful fragrant branches over Easter. Someone (and it would be indiscreet to name that person) was lolling on a sunbed soaking up the rays. I can truthfully say that however furiously you peg washing on a line the sound of rattling pegs do not wake those enjoying blissful carefree Sunday afternoons tucked away in a walled garden down in the South of France.

Seized with zest I grab my chair in front of the computer screen and pop up my announcement for last minute holidays in France, frankly I would book a last minute holiday for this alone but I'm biased I daresay. Afterwards I struggle and manage two uploads onto eBay with the realization that selling holidays is my forte.

'Time for a glass of wine' I trill in the direction of the sunbed. Amazing what a shower of wooden pegs will achieve.

What a tease! You could show us the results of your mother/daughter bonding session!

I agree with Chris ... could we not see at least one picture?

I love the "cohered the darling into posing..." and I too would like to see the results. Still, if you've put her off an unsuitable profession, you're just doing your job!

You're making memories, darling. Your daughter will look back fondly - perhaps even reminisce with you when she visits with you in the old age home (the one that she's chosen for you!)

Never work with children and animals. The Small Cross One sounds perfect model material.

In the interests of my regular and loyal readers I do feel it would be unfair to post pictures of petit moi poised in skin tight antique lace and black velvet dresses..... Desolé

Pictures very necessary I'm afraid Sally. Lilacs just breaking here too and I can't wait as it is one of my (many) favourite scents x

Ah, I know it all well.... my daughter is past being a teen but still acts like one, and we've done the pose in the clothes for ebay bit too!

We, too, will have lilacs for Easter -- which doesn't happen very often. A much anticipated frost last weekend didn't harm the just budding flowers -- some years we have no lilacs because of the cold!

Other people's teenagers are great entertainment value though - I adore them
Sally - I just happened on your site via Twitter. What fun you are having with life. Having been stuck up in Seine Saint Denis for the past 20 months, I am insanely jealous of your view. Cheers!
