Mimosa in the Spring
What a difference a day makes. Am ecstatic, literally, to report that today has been stunning insofar as the sun has shone all day long and windows have been flung wide open to let in the warm spring air. Wise Owl, who was delayed by Ryanair failing to operate the service to London Stansted yesterday and most unhelpfully left everyone stranded, instead enjoyed a further full day in France. Apparently the plane landed at Perpignan which was no consolation if you were expecting to fly out from Carcassonne. One wonders if it simply returned empty.
Never mind though, if you are lucky enough to come and visit us this year one of the absolute trips has to be to the Millau Bridge/Viaduct which spans the River Tarn and can legitimately claim to be one of the most handsome pieces of modern engineering anywhere on earth according to yesterdays Mail on Sunday article by Frank Barrett.
That's if you can tear yourself away from the stunning surrounding countryside which I took time to enjoy today. The almond blossom is out and the air is filled with the sound of humming bees. Butterflies are flitting about on the warm air and the mimosa is fully out and filling the garden with its divine scent.
His Lordship took a brief dip in the pool and enquired why I wasn't joining him. "It's too cold and I'm too busy" I replied patiently. "That old chestnut" he snorted.
I know for a fact that it's not me that's insane. Whilst I might wax lyrical about the beautiful hot weather (forget yesterday) nothing but nothing will induce me to get into that pool for some time to come without a wetsuit. Watch this space..........................
