LOL

July in the South of France, Heavenly.

I can't get enough of the fields of sunflowers. I'm crazy for them. I take the long route home in the convertible so I can drive slowly with them towering over me on either side. I arrive anywhere an hour late. 'Sorry' I mumble, 'I've been photographing the sunflowers'. I stand right up close to them and marvel at the intricate patterns, soak up their vibrant colours and breathe in the scent. I watch the bee's busy hovering from one enormous face to another. I waste my time delightfully.

Meanwhile whilst I languidly live my life minding my own business my humble blogspot brings me attention from all manner of people. A request to feature my house on a sales site (refused), an invitation for drinks at a gorgeous house in the pretty village of Lagrasse (accepted), a letter from someone restoring a National Trust Property (answered),a plea to sell an original Medieval House in Mirepoix (work in progress), oh and quite a few people wishing to view Le Chateau with an interest to purchasing my beautiful home ( ********** )

I've noticed that people have a habit of signing off after writing with the letters LOL. At first I thought it meant lots of love but then found out it could mean laughing out loud.

I just want to say here and now though that when the time arrives and yours truly signs off with LOL it won't mean any of the above. As far as I'm concerned the only LOL that I'm remotely interested in is

LADY OF LEISURE.

I prefer Lady of Leisure, but of course I don't believe you will ever be a true LOL far to motivated a person!!, I like the new clean look to the Blog and I love the sunflowers, mine are at last beginning to climb taller but the weather has been so fould it means they are miles behind.

Love the sunflowers, how I miss them, no such thing in Brittany.

Here's another acronym, much used by Americans -ROTFL, roll on the floor laughing.

Not really raining here, but everyone's still speaking Welsh! No sunflowers yet either. A sorry state of affairs. It's lovely to see them on your blog. They're nice from the back, but I'm just itching to turn that picture round!

I love to scroll down and look at the past photos on your blog - always like a mini-travelogue. You've been busy, by the sounds of it - I don't know how you do it all, and you make it all sound so easy. Of course we all suspect that you must be incredibly organized to run an establishment such as the chateau, all the while making sure that your guests have a wonderful south-of-France time.
It sounds like the perfect marriage of British attention to detail and French joie de vivre.

Oh! PS is right! You dont have us fooled! Many of us know how much work is involved in running a successful business but to keep at the top of your game whilst maintaining that constant ambience of cool, calm relaxation......art in itself! After this week, what I would do to be sipping something long and cool by the pool and just drink in all the summer scents and serenity ..........zzzzzzz......

And when you sell Le Chateaux I hope it will mean Lots of Lolly!
Interesting idea to photograph the backs of the sunflowers. I would love to come and 'waste' time with you photographing sunflowers I too think they are amazing . . . then again I have been out photographing grasses with rain drops on them . . . bliss. LOL

Sunflowers, yessss! The very essence of a southern French summer. Here's to LOL = Lady of Leisure (could do with a bit of that myself!)

Yes, I noticed the backs to them thing. Appalled at LBW's suggestion of Lots of Lolly though - what a notion, shudder (to those who don't know, Lolly is the name of my mad bag of fur aka dog)

Have also been completely confused by LOL. Still bewildered, in fact blogthatmama

Serious landscape envious envy here - enough sunshine to take the 'lid' off the convertible and a route full of sunflowers. Ooooohh! I would definitely take the long way round.

My 'long way home' this afternoon was reasonably attractive but predominately greyish-green and only 12.5 degrees...shiver, shiver.

Magnificent photo. One day you will be a LOL just like me - lol!
I do prefer your use of those initials over the other ones. A much more pleasing thought. Happy summer day to you.

Sunflowers are amazing I understand their power to captivate! July must be a lovely time of year in your part of the world.

Although it's cold and wet here I am cheered by a multitude of little birds and their happy sounds in the garden.

What a wonderful post - ruminating and great shots of the sunflowers. It is nice to see them from behind instead of the classic face. I have some growing in the garden - partly my son's project - and they should flower in the next month. (I hope)

I was the same with LOL. Before we got to grips with texts and were "courting", hubby and I would text and sign off with LOL - lots of love. Now, I have got into the blog world and regularly use it to mean "laugh out loud" but when hubby texts, he still uses it to mean "lots of love". Can get quite confusing - "you look great today - laugh out loud". ;0/

Excellent post. I'm painfully jealous of your heavenly drives in a convertible through the South of France. Sigh.

And thanks for the LOL about the acronym LOL. I wish I was a LOL like you, but I'm a stay at home mom instead. LOL, Carolyn

ps - David sent me.

The Lady of Leisure takes a Laugh Out Loud photo. Very nice.

And the rest of your photos (home and countryside) are just beautiful.

I have only been to the south of France once, about 14 years ago and just at this time. The fields of sunflowers were so amazing and I've grown my own tiny field at home ever since. Thanks for sharing your pictures!
