Out and about in Carcassonne
I've been very neglectful of my little blogspot of late which is a shame because writing and photography are two of my favourite pastimes. Along with eating, drinking and catching up with old friends, oh and building up my business, naturally.
May was a busy month, my feet hardly seemed to touch the ground. I met some delightful people, all guests at No.11 and I am proud of what I have achieved, my guestbook speaks for itself. Staying in a good quality bed and breakfast wherever you may be visiting for your holiday can be so beneficial in so many different ways. A professional hostess will be able to advise you where to go, suggest local attractions so that your vacation is a memerable one. More importantly she will tell you where to AVOID.
Living in central Carcassonne I am spoilt for choice. Restaurants, museums, sites of historical interest, theatre, walking, all right here on my own doorstep to tempt the visitor.
I've been rather pampered of late by generous friends wining and dining me. Some old favourites like la Compte Roger in La Cité where I simply had to sample the new white chocolate tart. La Roulotte Restaurant, a mere two minutes walk away, the duck cooked in individual clay pots is divine, the interior simple rustic French charm. For some lunchtime decadence when the weather is perfect for sitting outside under a large sun umbrella I love l'Artichaut in the elegant Place Carnot. I plumped for the fois gras salad and gave way to temptation for a seriously wicked pot of pure indulgence , rather like a banoffee pie with oodles of cream. From my vantage point I could watch the world go by and chat with friends all out for lunchtime fun. Socializing is a serious business after all.
Finally I went to a French football match in the heart of the countryside which resulted in my voice being rather husky for a day or two afterwards, nobody but nobody fouls my boy when he is about to score a goal in a cup final match.
Afterwards the party at the bar in Belveze du Razes was typically French having fun on a beautiful sultry evening. Bottles of pastis, whiskey and the local sparkling Crement de Limoux. Oh and Frenchmen being delightfully flirtatious as only they know how !
